York Rite Petition

I have chosen to go through the York Rite and have filled out my petition to do so. The degrees will be conferred on 2 Saturdays. I am looking forward to seeing and being apart of these degrees to me they closely represent the continuation of the Blue Lodge by reading some the online descriptions of what each degree will mean.

Congratulations, I hope you will be pleased with your choice. You are fortunate to be receiving the degrees and orders with a week-long break in between. As degree festivals can be overwhelming, my advice is that after you receive the first set of degrees, to go home and study again the summaries of the degrees, one by one (maybe even on separate days) to set them straight in your mind. Work through every piece that you can remember of them in your mind, giving due and thorough attention to the Royal Arch Degree, as it is so very critical to completing the Master Mason. By the time you go back for the next Saturday you should feel somewhat proficient in the preceding degrees and more prepared for what is to come.

I agree completely with what Bro Jeff said, the York Rite degress are beautiful, the Royal Arch Degree in Particular is wonderful (try to be the canidate in this one, if possible).

Two Saturdays? Sigh. It took me two years. The Preceptory Orders (Commandery for you folks down there) are spread out over a year locally.

I don't understand what the hurry is. No one can blame the Shrine any more.

The York degrees are fascinating. There is a lot of symbolism there, and what they appear to mean isn't what they really mean, in my opinion. Study. Observe. Think. You'll be blown away.
